ದಮ್ಮ-ಪದ (ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ಗ್ರಂಥ)

"ದಮ್ಮ ಪದ" ಅನ್ನೋದು ಖ್ಯಾತ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ಗ್ರಂಥ ಸುಮಾರು 50 B.C.E ರಿಂದ 5 C.E ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಪಾಳಿ ನುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ 422 ಉಕ್ತಿಗಳಿವೆ, ಇವನ್ನು ಬುದ್ದನ ನುಡಿಗಳು ಅಂತ ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ತಾನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತನ್ನೆದಿರೆಲ್ಲಾ ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆ, ಮನಸ್ಸು ತಿಳಿದಂತೆ, ಮನಸ್ಸು ತಳೆದಂತೆ;
ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಏನೇ ಮಾಡಲಿ ಏನೇ ಮಾತಾಡಲಿ ದುಮ್ಮಾನ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವುದು,
ಚಕ್ಕಡಿಗಾಡಿ ಗಾಲಿ ಅದನ್ನ ಎಳೆಯೊ ಎತ್ತಿನ ಕಾಲ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವಂತೆ.

ತಾನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತನ್ನೆದಿರೆಲ್ಲಾ ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆ, ಮನಸ್ಸು ತಿಳಿದಂತೆ, ಮನಸ್ಸು ತಳೆದಂತೆ;
ಬಿಚ್ಚು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಏನೇ ಮಾಡಲಿ ಏನೇ ಮಾತಾಡಲಿ ಸುಮ್ಮಾನ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವುದು,
ತನ್ನ ಬಿಡದೆ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವ ನೆರಳಿನಂತೆ.

He insulted me, hit me, beat me, robbed me'"for those who brood on this, hostility isn't stilled.

ನನಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದ, ಬಡಿದ, ಟೊಣೆದ, ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಅನ್ನೋ ಯೋಚನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿದ್ದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಗೆ ಎಂದೂ ನೀಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ

ನನಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದ, ಬಡಿದ, ಟೊಣೆದ, ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಅನ್ನೋ ಯೋಚನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಿದ್ದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಗೆ ಎಂದೂ ನೆಲೆಸೋದಿಲ್ಲ

Here he grieves he grieves hereafter;
In both worlds, the wrong-doer grieves;
He grieves, he 's afflicted, seeing the corruption of his deeds.

ಇಲ್ಲು ನೊಂದರು ಅಲ್ಲು ನೊಂದರು
ಇಹಪರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಡಿಗರು ನೊಂದು-ನೊಂದರು
ತನಗೇ ಕೆಡುಕಾದುದ ಕಂಡು ಬೆಂದು-ನೊಂದರು

Here he rejoices, he rejoices hereafter;
In both worlds, the merit-maker rejoices;
He rejoices, is jubilant, seeing the purity of his deeds.

ಇಲ್ಲು ನಲಿದರು ಅಲ್ಲು ನಲಿದರು
ಇಹಪರದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳಿಹರು ನಲಿದು-ನಲಿದರು
ತನ್ನಿಂದ ಒಳ್ಳಿತಾದುದ ಕಂಡು ನಕ್ಕು-ನಲಿದರು
