ಯುವಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಹುಚ್ಚೇ ...!!!??

ಈ ಸಂಗತಿ ನಡೆದದ್ದು ೨೦೦೩ನೇ ಇಸವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ...

"World Cup" cricket ಗೆ ಇನ್ನೆರಡು ದಿವಸ . ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಅಜ್ಜನ ಮೊದಲ ವರ್ಷದ ಶಿವಗಣಾರಧನೆ ನೆರವೇರಿತು . ಅಂದು ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ ನ (ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ) ತಾತನವರು Prof.Basavaraj ಒಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯ ವಿಷಯ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟರು .

ಎಲ್ಲ ಹುಡುಗರ ಹಾಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ ಗೆ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೂ       cricket  ಅಂದರೆ ಬಹಳ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ( "CRAZE" to be precise ) ಬಹಳ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯುತಿತ್ತು (ಹರಟೆ..?) . ನಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕಪ್ಪ ಕೂಡ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಎನ್ರೋ ಹೆಂಗಸರ ಹಾಗೆ ಗಂಟೆಗಟ್ಟಲೇ ಮತಾಡ್ತೀರಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಲೇವಡಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು.

ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರೋಣ .
ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ ತಾತ ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳು : "ನಮ್ಮ country ನಲ್ಲಿ cricket ಅಂದ್ರೆ ತುಂಬ ಹುಚ್ಚು . ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಡೆ ಏನು ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತೋ (...?..) ಅದನ್ನೇ ತೊಗೊಂಡು cricket ಆಡೋಕೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡ್ತರೆ . They waste (...!..) so much time ."

Dr Agadi (ನಮ್ಮ cousin uncle) : Indians have a lot of time to spend maybe ...

Prof Basavaraj : ಅಲ್ಲ why do countries like India , Pakistan , South Africa ... only these play cricket..? One reason is these are common wealth nations . And also under developed or developing nations . While countries like Usa , Russia , China , Germany play football , tennis , badminton etc.. These sports give lot of scope to each induvidual player . Not surprising is it .

After all cricket is a game of luck . These youth are attracted by the game . The clubs , pubs and bars are filled with them in front of huge tv screens for watcing cricket . They are wasting so much time and money on these bars and the bar fellows mint money . Imagine 5 days of sport - its only in cricket . How absurd and waste of time and money ."

ಈ ಪದಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಕಾಲ ಇತ್ತು . Usa is in cricket now... , ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವು ಹತ್ತು ಬಗೆಯ ಆಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದೇ ತರಹದ ಹುಚ್ಚು ಇದೆ  football , f1 , baseball ... , ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ನನ್ನ generation ಅನ್ನು support ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದನಾದರೂ ; ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೇ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ಸಮಜಾಯಷಿ ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲ .
